Cent, which just under a year ago helped former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey sell his first tweet in an NFT auction for $2.9 million, announced that it has temporarily suspended nearly all transactions on its marketplace to curb the uncontrolled proliferation of fakes and plagiarized tokens.

Speaking to Reuters reporters (https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/nft-marketplace-shuts-citing-rampant-fakes-plagiarism-problem-2022-02-11/), Cent CEO Cameron Hejazi said that on February 6, the company-owned marketplace had disabled the ability to sell and buy most NFTs — platform users were left with only the ability to trade tweets.

The administration of the service, Mr. Hejazi said, was no longer able to handle the avalanche of digital goods outside the legal field: "Every time we blocked one [item], another or even three came up."
