The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has applied to register a trademark for the NFT-marketplace, The Block reports.
The publication notes that the filing may not be indicative of the exchange's plans to launch a trading floor for non-interchangeable tokens.
It may speak to the NYSE's concern about using NFT tokens.
In April 2021, the NYSE created a series of "First Deal" NFT tokens to commemorate the first public trades in the stock of six companies.
Back then, the exchange sold NFTs through its Crypto.com service.
The non-exchangeable token series consists of records of the first trades on the exchange by Spotify, Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash, Roblox and Coupang, which have had IPOs in the past few years.
